What We Know: TRON Lightcycle Power Run Coming to Magic Kingdom

Walt Disney World has some highly anticipated renovations and attractions that are slated to open in 2021, one of them being the TRON Lightcycle Power Run at Magic Kingdom. Here is what we know about the upcoming Tomorrowland attraction so far.

Location: Magic Kingdom, Tomorrowland

Opening Date: 2021

Ride: Launch Roller Coaster

Train: Motorbike Seats

Speed: 60 mph

Length: 2 minutes

Height Requirement: 48"

The TRON Lightcycle Power Run is a steel coaster that features a 60 mph launch and uses a motorbike train. Each guest will straddle their own bike and feel restrains on the back of their legs as well as their lower back secure them in place as they lean forward to grab the handle bars. The height requirement for this attraction will be 48", the same Rock 'n' Roller Coaster. The total ride duration is 2 minutes, which is actually an average length for a typical roller coaster. The attraction is a duplicate of the original, which debuted in Shanghai Disneyland in 2016. The anticipated opening date for this coaster is sometime in 2021, just in time for Walt Disney World's 50th anniversary.

The ride will have two sections: a launch that throttles guests into a semi-enclosed canopy followed by an indoor portion that will recreate the feeling of racing against another light cycle.

Happy (future) riding!
