5 Underrated Attractions You Should Ride at Walt Disney World

Most WDW guests will focus on riding the big headliner attractions that boast incredibly high wait times. There are some incredible attractions, however, that almost always little to no wait. Here are 5 underrated WDW attractions that you should definitely ride during your visit.

1. Living with the Land

Living with the Land at EPCOT is divided into two general sections: a dark ride portion and a "living laboratory." The boat ride takes you through several different greenhouses and an aquacell, where you will see the new agricultural techniques Disney uses to grow food they eventually use at many of their restaurants. The greenhouses are quite beautiful and the entire experience really hits EPCOT's mission of showcasing modern innovation through education and entertainment. While this might sound boring on paper, this 14-minute attraction will not disappoint.

2. The PeopleMover

I am hesitant to add the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover to this list because it has certainly built a cult following over the last few years and is gaining traction as a popular ride. The PeopleMover was Walt's vision for mass transportation in the future. This 10-minute tour around Tomorrowland in Magic Kingdom will take you through Space Mountain and drive by an early concept model of EPCOT. This ride also provides a kinetic energy that really brings Tomorrowland to life.

3. Mickey's PhilharMagic

Located in Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom, Mickey's PhilharMagic is 4-D attraction that includes practical effects to create a truly magical (and musical) experience. With Donald Duck as the star of the show, this 12-minute film uses humor and the most popular songs from Disney classics, making this an instant hit with kids and adults. This attraction is also a great way to get much needed A/C, especially on those hot days. Because I focus so much on bouncing between thrill rides at WDW, these kinds of attractions allow me to shift gears, slow down, and really enjoy the Disney magic in a completely different way.

4. Muppet Vision 3-D

I absolutely love Muppet Vision 3-D at Disney's Hollywood Studios. The film is 15 minutes of innocent, slapstick humor combined with practical effects that are well-timed and perfectly executed. On top of that, it's almost always a walk-on attraction. If you love the Muppets, this is a must-see film. If you are indifferent towards the Muppets, this is STILL a must-see film. Even if this attraction had a long wait, I would still get in line to experience it. I know y'all are headed straight for Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge next door, but don't forget to hit this one on your way out. Just like Mickey's PhilharMagic, I find myself slowing down and enjoying the little corners of the park I would usually ignore as I run to the big coasters and thrill rides.

5. The Swiss Family Treehouse

I didn't tour The Swiss Family Treehouse until my 7th trip to WDW. Now every time I visit Adventurland in Magic Kingdom, it is a must-do for me and my family. This walk-through attraction takes guests through different scenes inspired by the Disney film Swiss Family Robinson. This treehouse is HUGE and brilliantly themed. There are so many little details that you discover every time you visit, and those moments make Disney vacations special for us. Both kids and adults will love exploring all of the nooks and crannies this elevated abode has to offer.

Bottom Line:

These 5 attractions might not be the most thrilling or most popular rides that WDW. However, each attraction possesses that Disney magic we so crave whenever we visit the theme parks. While we certainly love tackling the big headliner attractions, these 5 rides have become must-do attractions for us. These attractions also provide us with an opportunity to appreciate the small, thoughtful details that Disney Imagineers created. A WDW vacation isn't complete without these experiences, and I hope you take some time to enjoy them as much as we do.

Happy riding!
